From concept to full scale model

Laser cut prototype designs

Initial laser cut concept prototype
First attempt at making a full size CNC routered chair. The wood was of poor quality and the thickness was not sufficient to hold a person. However, the prototype proved a successful demonstration of the designs potential.

A 1:6 model was used to accurately scale the chair for the transition between laser cut models and the CNC routered full scale design. The kerfing cuts were also scaled exactly for a 5mm drill bit to be used on the CNC router.

A 1 foot tall manikin was used to tweak the chair design. This worked well for scaling to a full scale model with a 6 foot man. A foot stool was added to complete the lounge chair concept design.
